MEMBERSHIP: The Kalamazoo Garden Council, Inc. consists of members of those garden clubs in the Kalamazoo area whose aim is to promote the objectives of the Council and the Michigan Garden Clubs, Inc.. An associate membership, without voting privileges, may be granted to a person who had been a member of a disaffiliated Garden Club. This membership shall be recommended by the Executive Board and approved by Council. The dues for an associate membership will be determined annually.
For assistance in placement of potential new members call the Membership Chairperson (Linda Barrett). She will provide them with information on the Kalamazoo Garden Council and various garden clubs.
Information regarding new club members, resignations, changes or corrections in names, addresses, telephone, etc. during the year, should be given to the Membership Chairperson. This information will be sent on to the Circulation Chairperson.
COUNCIL MEETINGS: Meetings are held on the 2nd Tuesday of each month from September to June, except December and February. Greens Sale wrap-up meeting is held in January. The Annual Meeting is in June at which time annual reports from the Council Officers and committee chairpersons are distributed and the incoming officers are installed. All club members are invited and urged to attend any or all Council meetings. Voting is restricted to officers, committee chairpersons and the individual club representative.
DUES: Council dues of $3.00 per member are payable June 1 and delinquent October 1. Member club treasurers should make checks payable to the Kalamazoo Garden Council, Inc. and send to the Council Treasurer.
Michigan Garden Clubs, Inc. dues of $5.00 per member include National dues and are payable June 1 and delinquent September 1. Club treasurers pay directly to the MGC Treasurer and send rosters to the Data Base Chairperson. All MGC information will be distributed to the club presidents or representative at the annual spring District III meeting.
Directory: Directories are given to the club representatives at the September Council meeting for distribution to their club members. Please verify the information and submit corrections to the KGC Treasurer and the Editor of the Garden Post at the time of occurrence. Extra directories are available for new club members.
